Tree Houses
I love Tree Houses. And I love building Tree Houses.
I have been lucky enough to be entrusted to build a number over the years. Recently Garden Design magazine did a small article on me and the Tree Houses I build. The picture they used is of a project I did with a small group of senior campers at a summer camp in Haliburton. We designed and finished the build in just 4 days. The front posts are White Cedar salvaged from a nearby cottage when they were removed for a renovation.
There is a beautiful sunset view from the deck. It’s a very special feeling to work hard on something as a group, together putting your sweat and effort into achieving a common goal, and then, after a few days, be able to lean against the railing you built and watch the sunset from your very own Tree House. Of course, that feeling transfers to almost any project. However it is experienced, that feeling of accomplishment - knowing you started with just an idea and now you have created something functional and useful and tangible - is extremely satisfying. Working with small groups of kids, teaching them about designing and building useful things and helping them actually make their ideas come to life, is something that I hope to always do.
Everybody seems to love Tree Houses. Including the folks at Remodelista.
